含义Meaning
Potentials between oxidation states cannot simply be added; they are electron-weighted averages (ΔG° adds). A species whose right-hand potential exceeds its left-hand one disproportionates.
Symbols
Unit |
|---|---|---|
| \(E^\circ_{12}\) | 氧化态 1 → 2 的标准电势standard potential from state 1 to 2 | V |
| \(n_i\) | 各步转移电子数electrons in each step | 1 |
推导Derivation
\(\Delta G^\circ_{13} = \Delta G^\circ_{12} + \Delta G^\circ_{23}\)。
Gibbs energies add.
代入 \(\Delta G^\circ = -nFE^\circ\):\(-(n_1+n_2)FE^\circ_{13} = -n_1FE^\circ_{12} - n_2FE^\circ_{23}\)。
Substitute ΔG° = −nFE°.
歧化判据:B 的 \(E^\circ_\text{右} > E^\circ_\text{左}\) 时,2B → A + C 的 E° > 0。
Disproportionation when E°(right) > E°(left).
Assumptions & limitations
Compare at the same pH; Frost diagrams show stability graphically.
例题Worked example
Cu²⁺ → Cu⁺ (0.153 V) → Cu (0.521 V): Cu⁺ disproportionates; E°(Cu²⁺/Cu) = 0.337 V.
