含义Meaning
The percentage of the solution’s mass that is solute — the standard concentration measure in junior high.
Symbols
Unit |
|---|---|---|
Derivation
Mass of solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent.
Take the ratio and multiply by 100 %.
On dilution the solute mass is unchanged: \(m_1w_1 = m_2w_2\); the same balance handles concentrating and mixing.
Assumptions & limitations
Only dissolved solute counts; undissolved or crystallised material does not.
A saturated solution caps \(w\) at \(w_{\max} = \frac{S}{100+S}\) (S = solubility in g per 100 g water).
Volumes are not additive; work in masses.
例题Worked example
Diluting 50 g of 20 % NaCl to 5 %: 50 × 20 % = (50 + x) × 5 %, so x = 150 g of water.
